Glee Cast (Glee: The Music, Vol.4) - Not Horrible.

'Glee: The Music, Vol.4', is the latest soundtrack addition to the hit TV show phenomenon. It includes tracks shown in the past episodes of season two.  Although the quality of this album ceases to create effortless and classy backtrack music (as it consistently has always been throughout the past soundtracks) without actually overkilling the production of an original song, the spark and feeling of quite a few of these tracks are left a bit short and wanting more.  Not only that, I was quite gutted that some songs that were really outstanding shown in the series, such as Berry's 'What I Did For Love', Sunshine's 'Listen', 'Dog Days Are Over', and the mash-ups, were left out on this album.  With that being said, we'll go track by track on how this album came about to be the least impressing 'Glee soundtrack' album to be released thus far.

01. Empire State Of Mind
Interesting choice for an opening track.  Not too fond with the rapping, sounds a bit cringeworthy.  Mercedes' voice however shines in this song. / B

02. Billionaire
Again with the rapping.. Sure rapping is fun and rainbows but when it comes to Artie and Puck rapping, it feels a bit too pre-school / a group of college men getting drunk and not caring about who gives a rats ass.  That's the impression I get from these guys when it comes to their "freestyling" abilities.  Nevertheless, new guy Sam does a pleasant job covering Mars' vocals. / B-

03. Me Against The Music
Yay for Brit's first song, but the song just spells 'meh' all over it.  Not one of Britney's stronger singles either, but I guess this song fit's for Ms. S Piers' vocal ability. / C

04. Stronger
Pretty solid vocals from Mr. Wheelchair man himself.  I just had to look back at the original video to remember how brilliant both the song and video it was.  Iconic Brit-Brit at her best. / B+

05. Toxic
I applaud this cover to be at least different and refreshing for a chance.  Still, it's not as memorable as what we have yet to see in this season. / B-

06. The Only Exception
This song swoons, so sweet, adoring, any word that describes Berry's cute vocals in this track.  I just fell into heaven right now. <3 / A

07. I Want To Hold Your Hand
Riveting, goosebumps, emotional, grasping, simple, straightforward, amazing.   I was bawling when I saw this on TV. / A

08. One Of Us
Wasn't really a fan of this song, neither was the episode, but the Glee Cast delivered this track quite well. / B

09. Lucky
Now who in the world does not adore Squinn?  (Shame on you if you don't!) This lubey-dubey, adoring track will force want you to serenade this to someone.  Perhaps under the mistletoe during the holiday season? / A+

10. One Love (People Get Ready)
Quite pleasant.  And yes, they naturally sound better than what these two troublemakers have to offer when they blandly 'rap'. / B

11. Teenage Dream
Newcomer Blaine has shocked us all with this astounding, cool acapella rendition.  The Warblers have such great chemistry singing with each other. Would listen to this over the original any day. / A+

12. Forget You
Ms. Holiday is quite a cheeky character.  Would love to have her back on the show. Even better... As Mr. Shue's girlfriend! (Ohhhlalalaa!~)  Her 'sunny' persona fits with her ditzy vocals, oh what a presence was she? *sigh* / A

13. Marry You
Eh, not really a fan of this cover.  Mars could rock this song whenever.  This cover, however, is just.. Tamed, and not as uplifting and riveting.  This track is rather more cute-sy, whilst I'd rather see them totally go full out, rock out to this song. / C

14. Sway
Least favorite solo vocal from Mr. Shue.  I mean c'mon, whatever happen to those 'Bust A Move' / 'Don't Stand So Close To Me/Young Girl' / 'One Less Bell To Answer' times? / C

15. Just The Way You Are
What's with the Bruno Mars tracks on this album? :S  Anywho, yeah I'm not really a fan of this cover either.  I guess no one could really touch a BM song.  He's just that amazing.  Just the way he is.  Vocally. / C+

16. Valerie
Now this is how you rock out a cover!  Santana belt out on this one, indeed!  Werk it chola. / A+

17. (I've Had) The Time Of My Life
Gee, I honestly feel that Squinn literally made up the bad tracks on this album.  So I don't totally dislike this album only because of these two. I mean, who does not love this couple? / A

So there you have it.  Volume 4 of Glee: The Music.  Not as outstanding as the past three volumes, but what I think this album had to offer was mostly the memorable bits of the season, and much less than the performances that were outstanding, but yet less important.

What I Recommend?
Listen to: Stronger, The Only Exception, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Lucky, Teenage Dream, Forget You, Valerie, (I've Had) The Time Of My Life.
