Juku's Best Albums Of 2011

There has been loads of albums I have gone over, 2011 and the past, but this post is solely focused on the albums that were released this year just to make the the theme a bit more fitting. To be honest, it will a bit difficult ranking all the albums as it took such limited time to listen a worthload of hours spending time listening to each album.  But for now, I'll give some detail on how some albums gave in a worthwhile experience of eargasmic tunes while there were others that... well...  Then perhaps afterwards, I'll run down the top albums (hopefully narrow then down to 20) then a Top maybe 5 or 10 worst albums I've heard.  Not that there has been much, since this year's music wasn't too bad.  I'll probably start with the best.

12/17/11

IS BACK!

It's been a long hiatus being back here.  I've literally forgotten about this blog (just as among of my other blogs that I don't go on anymore) until now.  Since it's nearly the end of the year, I will be making full coverage of the best and worst singles and albums of such an astounding year in music.  And no, I am not actually being sarcastic this time!  (Horray!!!)

7/17/11

Olly Murs - Heart Skips A Beat (feat. Rizzle Kicks)

This is a great pop record.  Olly never ceases to fail my expectations.  These new cats are cool too.  Catchy name for a duo? (Rizzle Kicks).  Nice simple, summery video.  'Tis good.

A

Jessica Mauboy - Inescapable

Cheap video, as how all Jess' videos are.  But I guess that goes to show how cheap the production is down under anyways, so I can't blame her.  The song is okay.  I'm not feeling the hype as to how everyone thinks of this song, but I'll applaud her for belting it out like she always does.  She's a true professional.

B

Pixie Lott - All About Tonight

I love this jingle bit in the beginning. So I knew this was bound to be a good one.  I do however not like Pixie's new style.. With the fake gaga wig, the short hair, makes her look a bit cheap.  Movin on with the song, it's a bit cliche, the chorus didn't hit as hard as I expected it to be.  This might be a top 10 hit, but I'm not as confident about it really.

C-

Calvin Harris - Feels So Close

As typical, Calvin's videos are usually the "think outside the box" type.  I guess what this video apprehends is the closeness of being around friends, lovers, the community, family (I think with Calvin and that girl but I'm not too sure).  But enough about the video, this song will bound to be another Calvin Harris classic.  It reminds me a bit of a 2003 dance track with the likes of Deep Dish, Dirty Vegas, etc.  Toon.

A

JLS - She Makes Me Wanna (feat. DEV)

Great summer video!  Would've done nicely without the dude struting his stuff shirtless most of the time.  But its cool,  Dev's looking hot in this video so I can't bother.

A-

Take That - When We Were Young

A TT ballad at it's best.  The simplicity works in this video, all they really needed was emotion to this song.

Juku's Top 20 Singles Chart / May 2011

It's a bit of a dancey chart this month, but summer's coming up, so it'll do.

The Saturdays - Notorious
TM: *#1 / LM: --
'I'm an outlaw, I'm the big boss, I'm a gangster, on the dancefloor.'  That is all.

Havana Brown - We Run The Night
TM: #2 / LM: --
Run dem like run dem run dem wooop!

The Potbelleez - From The Music
TM: #3 / LM: #7 / MIC: 2
What I recommend is you should check out their latest album that came out just recently, 'Destination Now'.  Amazing album.

Swedish House Mafia - Save The World
TM: #4 / LM: --
Uplifting track + adorable video +  SHM's best track yet.  Winning.

Take That - Love Love
TM: #5 / LM: --
Would love to see the video sometime (and/or one of their epic concerts) ... Damn you video restrictions!

Example - Changed The Way You Kissed Me
TM: #6 / LM: #5 / MIC: 2
Bring on the damn single already, it's been too long!

Chase & Status - Time (Feat. Delilah)
TM: #7 / LM: #15 / MIC: 2
I can see this as a potential dance classic in the long haul.

David Guetta - Where Them Girls At (Feat. Nicki Minaj & Flo Rida)
TM: #8 / LM: --
Got a bit tiring and repetitive along the weeks, but it'll count as Top 10 based on how much I've raped the replay button on this one.

Yasmin - Finish Line
TM: #9 / LM: -- / L2M: #6 / MIC: 2
Whadaya know, a non-dance track for once? A bit on the fence, considering this chick is signed under a dance label..

Gypsy & The Cat - Jona Vark
TM: #10 / LM: --
Wasn't actually born in the 80's, so this whole sound of 80's revival makes it refreshing to listen.

Above & Beyond - Thing Called Love
TM: #11 / LM: --
Who knew these guys would be able to climb up the dance charts after how many years they've been around?

Alex Gaudino - What A Feeling (Feat. Kelly Rowland)
TM: #12 / LM: --
Summer.

Jennifer Lopez - I'm Into You (Feat. Lil' Wayne)
TM: #13 / LM: --
Not J-Booty's best, but it is quite pleasant.

Britney Spears - Till The World Ends
TM: #14 / LM: #1 / L2M: #20 / MIC: 3
Spears is definitely traumatizing me with this one...

Alexis Jordan - Hush Hush
TM: #15 / LM: --
QUIEEEET STORRRRRRRM.

Friendly Fires - Blue Cassette
TM: #16 / LM: --
Not a single but.. A bloody brilliant track from their lastest album, 'Pala'.  Obtain it ASAP.

Parachute - You And Me
TM: #17 / LM: --
Quite a catchy chorus hook.

Wynter Gordon - Till Death
TM: #18 / LM: --
Quite a grower, still does not have that punch that I'm looking for.

Frankmusik - Do It In The AM (Feat. Far East Movement)
TM: #19 / LM: #4 / MIC: 2
'FM, Frankmusik, FM, Far East Movement.'  How clever?

Katy B - Easy Please Me
TM: 20 / LM: --
Dull music video, lovely track.

5/24/11

The Wanted - Glad You Came

The reason why I like The Wanted the first place was how melancholy their music was, for a boyband anyway.  Nay? (...)

-

5/20/11

Swedish House Mafia - Save The World

Who's gonna save the world?  Click on the video to find out! (Although the thumbnail is quite obvious) Probably the cutest music video I've ever seen in my life. ^^

A

5/7/11

Cascada - San Francisco

Beh.  I still don't get how their still around even if they're just going to consistently bite artists' melodies, style, performance, etc.  The only time they were ever original was when they introduced us with those uptempo, speedy dance songs back in 2005. (Bad Boy, Everytime We Touch, Miracle, etc.) I think the real problem is that their company that they work with, AATW, doesn't have that much huge supporting artists as they used to have before, since now it's all rappers that they all have.  Which is completely sad, since AATW once was a dance company. So that pretty much means they can't drop these guys.

C-

Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me

This song is just a complete monster!!  Whilst everyone is bickering about what is their summer anthem going to be, this one definitely will be mine!  Compared to the other party videos, this one just literally brings clubbing to life and I really felt that in this video.  I felt as if I was part of the crowd, and that is basically how you lure your crowd to love it.  The fact that this video was also low budget (as said behind the scenes of the video) makes the video a million times stellar.  Example can't ever do no wrong in my book.

A+

Alex Gaudino - What A Feeling (Feat. Kelly Rowland)

Hot video.  It was simple, the choreography was spot on, and Kelly looking dashing as ever. The only bit that seemed a bit odd was Alex's weird thing he does with his face.. But other than that, this song will sell.  I'm very sure the video will guarantee help boost recognition of the song, as it pretty much as being called as one of the biggest summer anthems of '11.

A

Wynter Gordon - Till Death

Still not sure what I feel about this song.  At certain times I dig, and at other times, I just find it all over the place. I say this because I get the feeling that this is some kind of 80's revival disco-dance reject, whilst it actually being a top party track.  (Although I do feel that way sometimes...)  It's very confusing!!  Although, for one thing I'm sure of, I'm not digging the video. It's just another *sigh* yup, go ahead and read FM's post.

C

Frankmusik - Do It In The AM ft. Far East Movement

I love the song.  It's completely fresh, funky and something different I've heard from Frankmusik.  Adding Far East Movement wasn't that bad of a move either.  What I love especially is the reverse part, which I thought was completely bonkers at first, but overall it somewhat flowed quite well as a track.  Not sure if I'm feeling the video though.  The video isn't really anything special.  We've seen it all before.  Just another "feel-good", who gives a hoot about life, give in to the night life kinda junk.

B

Owl City - Alligator Sky (Feat. Shawn Christopher)

Welp. Owl City is back.  This I assume will be his first single on his upcoming new album.  The song is quite alright.  Sounds like any of his songs if I'm being that blunt about it.  The video... Eh, the ending with the drizzled footage was a bit fancy and collective about his past life as he leaves.. Earth?  Everything about this was quite alright.

Juku's Top 20 Chart / April 2011

Whoever thought this month's #1 would be this person?  I haven't been as much of a massive fan of hers over the last decade, but who knew this would be my jam?  Auuumazing.

Britney Spears - Till The World Ends
TM: #1 / LM: #20 / MIC: 2
Her 'Femme Fetale' remix with Ke$ha and Minaj is quite a gem too.

Bruno Mars - The Lazy Song
TM: #2 / LM: --
I guess it was more of the radio edit alongside the music video that intrigued me to listen to this song a lot more.

Chris Brown - Look At Me Now (Feat. Lil' Wayne & Busta Rhymes)
TM: #3 / LM: #17 / MIC: 2
I applaud Karmin for me striving to attempt Busta's asdfghjkl lyrics.

Frankmusik - Do It In The AM (Feat. Far East Movement)
TM: #4 / LM: --
What struck me the most about this track was the reverse part, which actually sounded more casual than rather messing up the song.

Example - Changed The Way You Kiss Me
TM: #5 / LM: --
Nevermind Gaudino's track, or Miss Saxobeat, this will definitely be my summer dance anthem!

Katy B - Broken Record
TM: #6 / LM: #5 / MIC: 2
This track is class.  CLASS.

The Potbelleez - From The Music
TM: #7 / LM: --
If I hadn't explored this through iTunes, I wouldn't have found this floorfilling track.

Chris Brown - Beautiful People (Feat. Benny Benassi)
TM: #8 / LM: #4 / MIC: 3
I honestly don't think I'll ever get tired of this track.  It's that infectious.

Jennifer Lopez - On The Floor (Feat. Pitbull)
TM: #9 / LM: #3 / MIC: 3
... So as this track as well.

Ke$ha - Blow
TM: #10 / LM: #8 / MIC: 2
There's just something about that Blooooo-oo-ooow part that amazes me.

Mumford & Sons - The Cave
TM: #11 / LM: --
I admit, I was the majority of those who found this song at the Grammy's. But a couple of months later, I found to appreciate this song even more than I never have imagined.

Adele - Set Fire To The Rain
TM: #12 / LM: --
This has been the most adored track I have found on her '21' album. Must be a single definitely.

Olly Murs - Busy
TM: #13 / LM: --
These lyrics unveil the story of my life pretty much (along with 'The Lazy Song').

Wynter Gordon - Dirty Talk
TM: #14 / LM: --
I've had this track for quite some time.  It's kinda odd how this somehow crept into my repeat list.

Chase & Status - Time (Feat. Delilah)
TM: #15 / LM: --
It must be the vocalist's nasily voice that keeps me wanting more.  The instrumental is class not to mention.

Blue - I Can
TM: #16 / LM: --
The boys are back with a Eurovision entry, as well as a bit of controversy here and there. A bit of a 'Written In The Stars' copout, but oddly enough, I prefer this over that track.

Wretch 32 - Unorthodox (Feat. Example)
TM: #17 / LM: --
Out of all the tracks on this list, this track took me a while to fully be satisfied with it.  Quite a funky tune.

Aloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar
TM: #18 / LM: --
This song is basically like a time machine, a modern song that seems to be stuck from the 70s.  Brilliant.

Kelly Rowland - Motivation (Feat. Lil' Wayne)
TM: #19 / LM: --
Quite a raunchy video, but the song delivers.

Two Door Cinema Club - What You Know
TM: #20 / LM: --
Quite a track.

Juku's Top 20 Monthly Chart / March 2011

Sorry guys.  It's been a whirlwind this past month.  Having said that, I totally forgot that I still have this blog, and I'll try to post as much up to date music as I haven't done (or at all) these past few weeks.  Here's a start, I'll reveal my monthly chart, which supposedly was supposed to be done before this new month arrived...  Oh jeez.

The Wanted - Gold Forever
TM: *#1 / LM: --
The boys of The Wanted has sky rocketted into the main scene as they release their Comic Relief single, which debuted at #3.

Rebecca Black - Friday
TM: #2 / LM: --
Black makes an incredibly difficult decision based on which seat she should take.  The front or left? (NOTE: This ain't no April Fools joke.. Foo)

Jennifer Lopez - On The Floor (Feat. Pitbull)
TM: #3 / LM: #3
Dolleh.

Chris Brown & Benny Benassi - Beautiful People
TM: #4 / LM: #4
It was this month that Brown and Benassi released their music video online.  Also, this will be Brown's forthcoming single down in Aussie from his debut album, F.A.M.E.

Katy B - Broken Record
TM: #5 / LM: --
Watch for Katy's debut album out next week!  Mark my words, it is an incredibly wicked album.

Yasmin - Finish Line
TM: #6 / LM: --
Although the Freemasons surprisingly did not make a glory remix out of it, the original still tends to be flawless.

Chris Brown - She Ain't You
TM: #7 / LM: --
Brown's upcoming single released in the States.

Ke$ha - Blow
TM: #8 / LM: --
I was oh so tempted to blast while shouting this song at the airport.

Take That - Happy Now
TM: #9 / LM: --
Their Comic Relief music video.  'Nuff said.

Katy B - Perfect Stranger (Feat. Magnetic Man)
TM: #10 / LM: --
This is old news.  It doesn't matter.  Katy's album is wicked.

LMFAO - Paty Rock Anthem (Feat. Lauren Bennett & Goon Rock)
TM: #11 / LM: --
Beware of shufflin' zombies.

Jodie Connor - Bring It (Feat. Tinchy Stryder)
TM: #12 / LM: #16
After a long hiatus, Jodie lands at her highest peak for this single at #42 on iTunes.  Will it end up in the Top 40 at the end of this week?

Katy Perry - E.T. (Feat. Kanye West)
TM: #13 / LM: --
What's next, ALIEN SEX?

Jamie Woon - Lady Luck
TM: #14 / LM: --
Sorry James Blake fans, but he ain't got nothing on Woon at all.

Flux Pavillon - Bass Cannon
TM: #15 / LM: --
Dance, dubstep, whatever.  It's all mainstream nowadays.  Thanks to Moyles' long running marathon charity event, I got my inner dubstep groove to ball out to this wicked track.

Alex Gaudino Feat. Kelly Rowland - What A Feeling
TM: #16 / LM: --
Not as up to par as I'm In Love, but definitely a solid effort.

Chris Brown - Look At Me Now (Feat. Lil' Wayne & Busta Rhymes)
TM: #17 / LM: --
Most of the occasion, I think of hip-hop as a polished turd, but oddly enough, I found out to be jamming to this track.  Thanks to F.A.M.E.

Adele - Someone Like You
TM: #18 / LM: #19
Should be getting sick of this track by now, but at the end of the day, I always tend to have a soft spot for it.

Nicole Scherzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath
TM: #19 / LM: --
Surprised I found it as a #1 single, as I found it an ultimately generic pop ballad.  Guilty, I'm a sucker for those.

Britney Spears - Till The World Ends
TM: #20 / LM: --
Funny how I got into track, because the first time I heard her sing it live on Kimmel I thought.. Well, this is a complete bubblepoopy track.  After looking at it at a second glance I thought.  Hey, not a bad track.  Although she may want to just give up as a live performer just as I thought the performance was completely horrendous.

3/10/11

The Wanted (The Wanted) - Golden?

These guys slowly crept up to be my current favorite band.  Any band.  Boy.  Girl. "Man".  Poser.  Any type of band.  With their upcoming comic relief single to be released this Sunday, I think it is most appropriate at this time that I review their debut album.  I must say, this is quite a solid album for a debut.  Yes, we do have some of the typical formulatic boyband tracks (give thanks to NKOTB), but surprisingly, there are other tracks you would not have literally expect to find any type of "boyband" to sing.  Unless if it's Take That, since they're all out on experimenting now.  Well that's the thing about The Wanted.  They're actually a band I can honestly spread apart from the others because of how distinct their music is.  For instance, JLS, The Saturdays, Shayne Ward, and those other bubble heads have that.. Well, current 2011 bubblegum pop.  One Direction, they could just be another Take That 2.0 or make records just like these guys... And then you've got the alternative bands, Coldplay, The Script, Kings Of Leon and etc.  Hence, The Wanted in a sense is more of a twist of bubble pop and alternative, which I think is why they're music is quite an ear-opener to the public.

3/7/11

Yasmin - Finish Line

Despite having such a low peak on her debut, 'On My Own' (#39)Yasmin (tries) to come back with this sophisticated, slow jam number.  The chorus is quite the rift (middle 8 too), but that's pretty much it really.  So basically when you think of it, it's not that bad of a song.  In my opinion, it just needs a bit of a rework, then it'd probably have more of a kick to it.  Not a smash, but the effort is appreciable.

B

3/5/11

Bruno Mars - Liquor Store Blues (Feat. Damien Marley)

Not quite sure if this is his next single.   Just because artists release a music video does not quite exactly mean they become singles.  Remember Day 26? (...) Anywho, this music for me is quite dull.  Even if it is just trippy, gnarly effects, which I am a big fan of.  But just by how it was used in this video, I don't actually see the appeal of it all.  Maybe whilst you're on Mars' crack train people would seem to love it, but in reality, it's not that alluring.  The song's not bad though.

C+

3/4/11

The Wanted - Gold Forever

I always had a soft spot for boybands (see Take That & JLS), but I never reckoned liking this band at all.  The first two singles were an absolute bore I crossed my eyes and prayed they were going to be one hit wonders.  But after hearing this song, I totally changed my perception of them.  This video allows me to introduce how they're just simple guys.  None of them really stand out as a great singer (probably the dude with the nearly bald hair with the awkward facial expressions who hogs most of the spotlight). But all in all, their all equally vocal-wise compatible to each other.  This song would've been perfect for a summer anthem, but eh.  It's great we get to hear it now.

A

Jennifer Lopez - On The Floor (Feat. Pitbull)

This music video is near perfect.  Although it may be hard to believe that she is 40, J-Lo can still strut, work it, and pwn at it a million times as much as those amateur female artists "try" to these days.  Usually I'd say that Pitbull would ruin any song just by appearing on someone else's, but for ONCE, he genuinely hypes this song to be an ultimately top dance party track.  This all round is literally an amazing track.

A+

3/2/11

Katy B - Broken Record

This will give me time to grow, but for now, this whole track is just meh to the max.  This definitely is not Katy's best material, in fact, I think this is the least I've ever favored hearing from her.  A bit I liked was the "like a broken record" near the ending, but other than that...

C

2/27/11

Ke$ha - Blow

Uhh.. I honestly don't know what to think after watching this video.  I just found everything bizzare, odd, feelings that came out of nowhere.  I guess what I would have expected from this video was a club hitting video imagining Ke$ha inside a club whilst the club blows and Ke$ha falls apart or something.  (My imaginations of her are a bit violent, considering the fact she is ruining how music used to have meaning in the main scene).  But who cares, Ke$ha brings the party to her tracks and I shouldn't be bothered by that.  The only fact I don't like deeply about her are the things I've been hearing about her being in the game.  Besides that, the unicorns, the rainbow shooting beams at that "Van Der Douche," everything was just all sorts of.. Bizzare.

B-

Take That - Kidz

What legends.  At first, I was bit reluctant about their entry to the city, with the random hippie dancing and those bizzare outfits.  However, it totally fits the entire theme to the video!  Hopefully this video will raise their sales a bit to this song.  With such an hard stomping, anthem beat, there's no way this track should miss out on the Top 10 at least.  Who knew Captain Barlow sang the chorus?

A+

2/23/11

Mike Posner - Bow Chicka Wow Wow

This by FAR has been the most tackiest video, most outdated track I have ever heard/seen in ages.  Not that I don't mind the song, but these days you will go far if you would bring something uncreative and generically catchy in the clubs.  And no, I did not include what's his other face on the title by accident.

C

Jodie Connor - Bring It (Feat. Tinchy Stryder)

Wonderful uptempo, club song Jodie!  But what a SHAME SHAME SHAME that this is sinking out of the charts (seeks bluntly at Top 60 as of now).  The lyrics are immense as well.  The wise, usage of words, such as "noobie" really speaks through and shows what a great inspiration you are.  Glad the rapper arrived to appear on your video, unlike that other noobie.  Although, what's with the wardrobe malfunction in the beginning of the video?

Juku's Top 20 Chart / February 2011

Jessie J - Price Tag (Feat. B.o.B.)

I crossed my fingers to do well on the charts.  Top 20 isn't so bad.

Chase & Status - Blind Faith
TM: #6 / LM: -- / MIC: 1
I wanted to through my chair across the room because of the overabused sample usage of "Love Sensation".  Luckily, C&S created such a class act out of it.

One of VERY, very few artists out there who are most popular because of their voice.

Bad advertising on your single Jodie.  Bad move.

Olly Murs - Heart On My Sleeve
TM: #20 / LM: -- / MIC: 1
Top 20 hit, doubt it will mark Top 10.  Although, he's one of those X-Factor peeps.  So who knows.

EDIT: Don't know why this ugly font appeared.

Zoe Badwi - Accidents Happen

Not quite as an epic track as 'Freefallin', but Badwi still knows how to make her songs insanely catchy.  The '911' part is cheese and uninspired at its best, but I will not complain because she looks absolutelyc hot in this video.  The video technique with the forwarding and rewinding the clips doesn't quite fit perfectly in this video.  Yes, I know it's all about 'accidents', but the rewinding and forwarding bit just doesn't really captivate it as much.  Was it all just a accident that the director has done this?

Jessica Mauboy Feat. Jay Sean - What Happened To Us

Great chemistry.  Jay Sean works it for Jess, rather than that appalling video he shared with Alesha.  This video, however, seems more of an ad than an actual video...  By reading the comments on tube, here's something I would like to share.  Tip: In order to break up with someone, you must buy a blackberry.  That is all.

Olly Murs - Heart On My Sleeve

I dig the single choice, I'm just a bit unsure about the music video.  I mean, the awkward facial expressions, his acting in general.  Hmmm.  Obviously I'll see it do well on the charts considering he's scored his first two singles in the Top 10 effortlessly.  Although ballads usually don't seem to do so well, so a Top 20 would be just accurate.

Jessie J - Price Tag (Feat. B.o.B.)

Jessie J is quickly becoming my favorite upcoming artist of this year.  Her freshly sense of swag, clothes, just everything about her makes her so unique, and this video really proves it.  Thank goodness this video doesn't reflect how much of a skank she was on her first video.  I'd rather she'd be more lenient to this route in terms of her style and none of that mandemmandem hooka-hooka-hooka-shit. Go on Jessie!

David Guetta Feat. Rihanna - Who's That Chick

Flashy video.  Kinda odd how this song came out like years ago, but glad the video finally arrived.  I do appreciate the effort the directors did with this video.  How the camera angles flashed all over the place, how it is massively easy to get a seizure off of those colorful rainbows and photoshopped font texts.  Rihanna looks hot.  Guetta looks plain as usual.  I guess that's how he wants to portray himself.  As the plain French dude who DJ's in the background.  Have some style mangg.

Alexis Jordan - Good Girl

Very flashy video.  Shows all sides to Alexis' persona.  The sultry, the seductive, the geeky?  The geeky part doesn't quite fit  to the others.  Slick dance moves.  Very beautiful.  I'll definitely cross my fingers and say this will be a hit.  It definitely takes time growing to like this song, however.

Avril Lavigne - What The Hell

Hmmm, that was quite a video.  I'm not entirely convinced of her acting, but dang.... Look at that amazing figure of hers.  Other than that, this was quite a typical fun, trashy Avril.  I don't think the video will help her out in the charts (in some countries).  Just a thought.
